Eli Lilly’s demethylating process based on ionic liquid
Author: Release time:2014-04-14 16:30:36 Reading times:
Eli Lilly have described a process for demethylating an aryl ether to quantitatively generate a phenol, on both a twenty-two litre and a 190 litre pilot plant scale. 4-Methoxyphenylbutanoic acid is demethylated in three hours
at 180 ℃ when melted with pyridinium hydrochloride, [pyH]Cl. 4-Hydroxyphenylbutanoic acid, which is the product, is an important pharmaceutical intermediate.
